Passenger Services Strategy Group (PSSG)

Providing an in-depth review of common issues around both recent and future franchising competitions.

Purpose

The purpose of the Passenger Services Strategy Group (PSSG) is to enable the development of an RDG position, clear messaging for engagement with officials, and support for political and strategic developments.

Objectives

The PSSG will provide formal recommendations on policy and positioning to RDG, including:

  • Identifying areas where informed discussion and structured engagement may advance and influence the future direction of passenger train service procurement in Great Britain
  • Defining where RDG and PSSG can add value and support owner groups and industry parties in discussions on franchise policy and strategy;
  • Creating a more strategic framework for discussion that will enable the RDG and its members to respond quickly to changes in policy and strategic direction, and
  • Co-ordinating with other RDG work streams to integrate service procurement with cross-industry initiatives to improve affordability and value for money
