Staff Travel on Eurostar Blue

Eurostar Blue operates international services from London St Pancras to Lille, Paris, Brussels, Rotterdam and Amsterdam

RST Eurostar Blue FIP Fares

Public Fares

  • Children under 4 travel free if they do not take a seat.
  • Children aged 4–11 pay a child fare.
  • People aged 12–25 pay a youth fare.
  • People aged 26 and over pay the adult fare.

Note: FIP coupons do not give free travel on Eurostar.

Booking and Travel

  • Book in person at any Eurostar station, through International Rail at bookmyrst.co.uk, or other agents listed at raildeliverygroup.com/rst/faqs.html#IntBook. (Booking fees may apply when using Travel Agents)
  • Eurostar will record each FIP card number against the booking.
  • Each passenger must have their passport and FIP International Reduced Rate Card.

Availability and Restrictions

  • FIP tickets are quota-controlled and sell out as bookings increase.
  • Tickets can be booked up to 6 months in advance.
  • Travel is for leisure only (not commuting or business).
  • Break of journey is not allowed.

  • London – Paris, Brussels, Lille, Calais
    • Standard: £34.50
    • Plus (1st class FIP only): £52.50
  • London – Amsterdam, Rotterdam
    • Standard: £44.50
    • Plus (1st class FIP only): £62.00
  • Brussels – Amsterdam, Rotterdam
    • Standard: £15.50
    • Plus (1st class FIP only): £30.50

Important:

  • Eurostar Plus fares are only for 1st class FIP card holders.
  • Upgrades from 2nd class FIP to Eurostar Plus are not allowed, even if offered when changing a booking.
  • FIP fares for children are the same as adult fares. Children aged 4 and over must book a ticket. Children aged 4 can be issued with FIP cards if needed.
  • No FIP discounts are available on the Eurostar Snow Train.

Who Can Use These Fares

These fares are for holders of a Staff Travel Card, unless the card has one of these endorsements printed on the front:

  • 5 – National Rail and London Underground only. Not Eurostar
  • 6 – Not valid on Eurostar services
  • 11 – Valid on National Rail only. Not Eurostar

Eurostar Classes and Discounts

Who This Applies To
This fare information is for active and retired safeguarded employees and their families who had British Rail staff travel benefits on or before 31 March 1996 and hold a Staff Travel Card.

Exceptions
If your Staff Travel Card has any of the following endorsements printed on the front, it is not valid on Eurostar:

  • 5 – Valid on National Rail and London Underground only. Not Eurostar
  • 6 – Not valid on Eurostar services
  • 11 – Valid on National Rail only. Not Eurostar

Staff Travel on Eurostar Red (formerly Thalys)

Eurostar Red
Eurostar Red operates services between Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and Cologne.

Who This Applies To
Eurostar Red FIP fare information is for employees and their family members who have a FIP International Reduced Rate Card issued by Rail Staff Travel.

Eurostar Red

Eurostar (formerly THI Factory) operates Eurostar Red (formerly Thalys) high-speed services between the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France. These trains are branded as Eurostar Red.

For public fares, children up to 4 years old travel free. Children up to 12 years old are eligible for a reduction on the adult global fare. Persons aged 12 and older pay the adult global fare.

The following table supplied by Eurostar defines the boundaries of FIP availability across the Eurostar Red railway network.

Eurostar Red offer Premium, Comfort and Standard. FIP first class facilities are valid in Comfort, and FIP second class facilities are valid in Standard. FIP facilities are not valid in Premium.

There are no FIP coupons available for free travel on Eurostar Red services.

The FIP Card or International Senior Manager Free Pass may be used to purchase tickets. 

FIP discounted tickets cannot be purchased on-board. Where no tickets are held, a supplement of €25 is levied on the on-board purchase of full fare tickets.

Travelling on a different Eurostar Red train

If you have an FIP discounted ticket and you travel in the same class on a different train to the one you are booked on, you will have to pay the difference between the discounted ticket you hold, and the full fare for the same class.

Upgrading from Standard to Comfort

If you have an FIP discounted ticket for travel in Standard class and wish to upgrade to Comfort class:

  • on the same train, you pay the difference between the ticket you hold, and full fare for Comfort class.
  • on a different train, you pay the difference between the ticket you hold, and full fare for Comfort class plus a supplement of €25.
