The following carrier is relevant to the Republic of Ireland
- CIE - Córas lompair Éireann (Irish Transport System)
Passenger train services on which CIE FIP facilities are valid are provided by Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail).
For public fares, children up to 5 years old travel free. Children up to 16 years old are eligible for a 50% reduction on the adult fare. Persons aged 16 and older pay the adult fare.
The following table supplied by CIE defines the boundaries of FIP availability across the CIE railway network.

If using FIP Coupons for free travel on the Enterprise service to Northern Ireland, then both CIE and NIR coupons must be held.
With FIP coupons you must not use Citygold class (Peak hour services between Dublin and Cork).
Holders of 2nd class FIP facilities may travel in 1st class on payment of the Superstandard supplement. In some large stations this can be paid before departure, in other cases it has to be paid on the train.
The holder of 1st class FIP coupons only has to pay the 1st class supplement if a seat reservation is required.
You can pay the supplement at www.irishrail.ie. To make a seat reservation or purchase an upgrade, choose the Seat Reservation button, which is called ‘Free Travel Pass or Valid Ticket’.
FIP reduced rate tickets must be endorsed at the station where a break of journey is made.
FIP facilities are valid on the Dublin Area Rapid Transit (DART) services.
FIP facilities are not valid on
- the Dublin light rail network (LUAS)
- buses
Non-FIP benefits available to Staff Travel Card holders.
Safeguarded staff with a Staff Travel Card (unless endorsed "11 - Valid on National Rail only. Not Eurostar") may buy reduced rate tickets.
Non-safeguarded holders of Rail Staff Leisure Cards cannot use this to buy reduced rate tickets but can use an FIP card.
