Hovertravel

Staff discounted (priv-rate) fares for leisure travel are available on Hovertravel services between Southsea and Ryde. Through fares are available from Portsmouth and Southsea via Hovertravel to stations on the Isle of Wight.

Capacity limitations

The hovercraft has passenger capacity limits. Passengers without seat reservations can only be accommodated on services where seats are available.

To avoid disappointment or disruption to travel plans, Hovertravel advises that rail ticket holders should book a seat in advance at least 48 hours before (especially at busy times).

Booking tickets

Holders of the Staff Travel Card Rail Staff Leisure Card or RST Online Leisure Card can also purchase staff discounted (priv-rate) fares at the Hovertravel terminal at either Southsea or Ryde.

Bus connection from Portsmouth and Southsea station

Hovertravel operate a connecting bus between Portsmouth and Southsea station and Southsea Hovertravel terminal.

If you intend to purchase a staff discounted (priv-rate) fare at Southsea Hovertravel terminal you can present your Card on board the bus at Portsmouth and Southsea station for free transfer.

Alternatively you can purchase your priv rate ticket at the Portsmouth Hard Exchange travel centre.

Important notes

Please note:

• a Staff Travel Card, Rail Staff Leisure Card or RST Online Leisure Card must be carried to support the use of the staff discounted (priv-rate)
• dated boxes on Staff Travel Card, Status Passes and Residential Passes are not valid for any free travel on Hovertravel services.
